Our Team

Carolynna Gabriel

I’m the Founder and Executive Director of Wilmington Tennis. Before I became a competitive junior player, I used to spend every summer playing tennis in the park by our house, battling out points until late at night. The infectious spirit of building neighbourhood friendships and learning through sport play made a significant impact on me.  Ten years later, after graduating from the Ivey School of Business at Western with a specialization in entrepreneurship, I started Wilmington Tennis with the aim of reawakening community passion for our sport, one neighbourhood at a time.

I have been the administrative assistant at Wilmington Tennis since the summer of 2014. I like to encourage people of all ages to pursue tennis and gain the same knowledge and love I did when I was a kid. I began playing tennis at age 7 in Victoria, B.C. and played competitively in the province for 4 years. In 2000, I moved to Toronto and switched to playing tennis recreationally, leaving behind the competition.

In 2006 I received my tennis instructor’s certification and instructed at camps in St. Catharines and Toronto. I am fluent in English and Japanese and love playing the ukulele and learning about civilizations’ past.

I am a 21 year old from East York, Ontario, currently enrolled at Humber College studying Sport Management. I grew up playing competitive Baseball and “AA” Hockey and have always had a passion for sports. Interning at Wilmington Tennis for the 2014-15 school year has improved upon many of my strengths and weaknesses, such as communication skills, event management, budgeting and more. They have welcomed me with open arms and valued my input on a daily basis, enhancing my experience and making me feel part of the Wilmington family. If you have questions about trying out an internship here, I’m your guy.
